Evaluation
Within this final major
project I feel like I have pushed myself to my limits and from doing so I have
learnt a lot of valuable lessons I can take forward on leaving the course.
Furthermore I have been given a lot of opportunities and feel I have taken those
opportunities and have been extremely valuable.
The first brief (cubed) was
designed to get me working more in After Effects alongside branding and
learning more about moving image. I found this one of my favourite briefs as I
love fashion and branding a fashion label is what I like doing. However I then
also got to do a photo shoot, and video for the animation, so I believe it
showcases a range of different ideas/ subjects I want to go into.
Brief two was the fashion
yearbook, this was a lot more stressful than I thought it would be, from this I
have decided that I definitely do not want to be a tutor. The graphics team
worked well together in the situation we were put in to create this publication
for the deadline. I also am happy with the overall design of the book, although
it is quite simple it works and still has kept the cutting theme Gemma really
wanted in the fashion yearbooks.
Brief three was a combination
of 4 branding projects all of which I enjoyed doing and were all very
different. The fine artist brief had to be another favourite as working with
the fine artist went smoothly and overall the client was happy with the designs
I also liked. I would quite like to develop this further outside of university
for the fine artist, as there is so much more which could be done.
Brief four my design context
brief is my biggest disappointment in that I sent off for the publication to be
printed and its come back really poor quality! Due to the time restraints I had
I couldn’t re-print it. However this book shows the work of companies of who
inspire me and the style of work I would love to create in the future.
Brief five, Echowire took a
bit of a back seat when I won the end of year show brief, as this was more
important. However I do think the design I have made for EchoWire work and they
are really happy with them and asked me to work freelance for them over summer,
which is amazing! So win win.
Brief six, the most tiring,
stressful, amazing, suprising, challenging, and worthwhile brief I have done.
Although the first final print of the invites were really disappointing I have
learnt so much from this brief. Also working on tight deadlines such as getting
an email an hour before they want a new design. It also has sorted my issue
with time management, I feel like I have achieved what I wanted to for my fmp along
with this and the prospectus pitch. Overall it has been very stressful and
pushed me to my absolute limits but I would do it all over again.
Brief seven the prospectus
was a pretty quick turn around and then created a pitch to management. Pitching
to management was a really valuable experience to feel how a professional pitch
functions and also gave me confidence in what I do and also pitching and
speaking without a horrible accent with “like..” and “ermm”.
Overall I am really happy
with my year this year, I have learnt an incredible amount and have been
involved in many opportunities of which I am grateful to have been given. I am
now confident in the way I work and communicating with clients/printers etc. to
get the job done to a high standard, and I can only progress from here.
